Good Evening Pixies!

Are you ready for a fun challenge?  Today I want to focus on something most of you will already know about, but some of you might be struggling with the concept.  Bokeh.  Pronounced Bokay or bocah, you say potato, I say potahto.  Bokeh is the beautiful blurring effect caused by opening your lens up to wider apertures.  You have Canon lenses that have a 1.2 F stop, and Nikon has 1.4.  I shoot most of my portraits at 1.4, the only issue this causes is my field of focus is VERY NARROW.  If I (or my clients) move even a hairsbreadth after composing, it could make the image blurry.  This is why I use the back button focus and press it constantly.

Here is a video explaining the intricacies of bokeh.  So show me your bokeh!  Do some experiments, just as he does in the video.

Can’t wait to see what you do!

Come visit me on my page, www.bonniehillphotography.com or www.facebook.com/bonniehillphotography to see what I have been up to!

See you next week,
XOXO
